After significant weight loss, it is common to seek a more toned figure. At AmayaClinic®, we offer extended abdominoplasty for those who have undergone bariatric surgery.

This procedure removes excess skin from the abdomen and back, leaving a partial or full scar beneath the underwear line, and can be combined with other treatments to optimize results.

At AmayaClinic®, we offer you a free digital pre-assessment to obtain information and costs for your surgery in a simple and secure way. You will receive a personalized document from Dr. Felipe Amaya just as you would in a face-to-face assessment.

Before & After:
Massive Weight Loss Surgery

An informed patient is a confident patient.
Our patients ask: What surgeries complement an extended abdominoplasty?

In cases of severe skin laxity after significant weight loss, a conventional abdominoplasty may not be enough, and we perform an extended abdominoplasty instead.

Frequently, either during the same surgery or at a later time, we combine the following procedures to enhance the result:

  • Thigh Lift (Cruroplasty): Essential when there is excess skin in the inner thigh area. The scar is hidden at the junction of the leg and body.
  • Arm Lift (Brachioplasty): Performed to correct arm sagging. The scar can be hidden in the armpit or extend down the arm in severe cases.
  • Back Lipectomy: Liposculpture can moderately correct back rolls, but in severe cases, incisions are needed to remove excess skin.
  • Gynecomastia Surgery and Pectoral Lift: After weight loss, the male chest may appear sagging and loose. This can be corrected with liposuction or a lift and skin resection for a firm contour.
  • Facelift after weight loss: After significant weight loss, it’s common for the face to show sagging. Surgery may be needed to address drooping in the cheeks and neck.

When will I see the final results?

The change is noticeable from the first moment, but the final result is achieved after about three months.

This procedure is designed for post-bariatric patients who, after undergoing surgeries like gastric sleeve or gastric bypass, experience significant weight loss and are left with excess skin. It is performed to remove this excess skin in areas such as the abdomen, arms, thighs, and chest, unlike an abdominoplasty, which focuses only on the abdomen.

The procedure can be performed once the patient has reached a stable weight, usually about a year after bariatric surgery.

It is not recommended to perform all procedures in one day. Typically, two procedures are done, such as abdomen and breasts, or arms and abdomen. Each case should be evaluated individually to minimize risks and complications.

To find out the cost of your procedure at AmayaClinic®, you can choose between an in-person consultation with Dr. Felipe Amaya or a digital pre-assessment, which is 100% virtual and completely free.

It is recommended that patients traveling from abroad arrive three days prior to the procedure for adequate preparation.
